ANGRA Rebirth
One of the greatest comebacks in the history of heavy metal!! I love
Andre era Viper and Angel's Cry was a major revelation for me back in
the early 90s. But Holy Land was a disappointment and Fireworks
furthered the descent with rather uninspired music. A line-up change
was for the best but who knew that the results were to be this
stunning? New vocalist Edu Falaschi (exSymbols) will surely please
Andre fans but his fuller range adds so much more to the mix; the songs
are exceptionally crafted, with the perfect balance of power and
melody, with just hints of the progressive and the classical elements
shining through on the rare occasion. And what about the "Brazilian
music" ingredient? It's held to just over a minute ("Imperial Crown"),
the band teasing us before properly exploding with "Forgiven Return"
(this ain't no World Music album, understand?: )). Producer Dennis Ward
(PC69, Headstone Epitath, etc.) finally gives Angra the biggest
production of their careers, something so lacking in their previous
efforts. Essential.
